The Bank of Industry (BOI) Research Group Sabbatical Programme offers seasoned academics and researchers an opportunity to undertake relevant, policy-oriented research that contributes to BOI’s intellectual leadership and strategic mandate.

Programme Title: Call for Sabbatical Programme in the Research Group of the Bank of Industry (BOI) – 2026
Application Deadline: 15th December 2025
Commencement Date: January 2026
Duration: One calendar year (non-renewable)

Eligibility Criteria

  • Position: Open to Associate Professors or Professors in Economics or allied disciplines with a strong focus on development finance, from accredited Universities or research institutes.
  • Nationality: Nigerian citizens only.
  • Language: Excellent written and oral communication in English.
  • Commitment: One (1) calendar year full-time engagement with the Bank.

Thematic Focus Areas

Applicants should propose research in one or more of the following areas:

  • Development Finance and Investment Policy
  • MSME Growth and Financial Sustainability
  • Industrial Competitiveness and Value Chain Development
  • Green and Sustainable Finance
  • Innovation, Technology, and Digital Transformation

  1. Current CV detailing all publications and cover letter
  2. Defined research plan with specific deliverables, outcomes, and timelines
  • Recommendation letter from present employer, confirming that the candidate’s job will still be available at the end of the sabbatical.
  1. Copy of valid ID card/international passport
  2. Certified copies of academic certificates
  3. Short statement of intent (maximum of one A4 page) indicating why the applicant should be considered for the program
