BOI Engages Afreximbank on Strategic Partnerships to Accelerate Africa’s Industrialisation and SME Growth

On the sidelines of the ongoing World Bank Group/IMF Spring Meetings, the Bank of Industry (BOI) engaged in a high-level strategic meeting with Afreximbank to explore deeper collaboration in advancing Africa’s industrial and economic development. The BOI delegation was led by its Managing Director/CEO, Dr. Olasupo Olusi, and received by Afreximbank Executive Vice Presidents, Dr. George Elombi and Mr. Haytham El Maayergi.

The meeting focused on strengthening cooperation in financing and guarantee solutions aimed at catalysing private sector growth and trade across the continent. Discussions covered a wide range of opportunities, including support for industrialisation, the expansion of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and improving access to quality healthcare. BOI also reiterated its commitment to supporting landmark initiatives such as the African Medical Centre of Excellence (AMCE) in Abuja.

Both institutions discussed potential areas of collaboration in upcoming continental initiatives such as the Intra-African Trade Fair (IATF2025), the Afreximbank Annual Meeting (AAM2025), and BOI’s active participation in the Bank’s annual capacity-building programme for African bankers, set to take place in Abidjan in November 2025.

This engagement reaffirms BOI’s dedication to forging strategic partnerships that deliver impactful, scalable solutions for Africa’s sustainable industrialisation, healthcare improvement, and SME empowerment.
