BOI Journal of Development Finance is Seeking Cutting-Edge Contributions.

The BOI Journal of Development Finance (BOI-JDF), the flagship peer-reviewed research of the Bank of Industry Limited, invites scholars, researchers, and practitioners to submit their original manuscripts for publication in the journal. The platform is dedicated to advancing knowledge and discourse, as well as fostering innovation in development finance, economics, entrepreneurship, and accounting. The journal is a medium to disseminate the latest discoveries, insights, and perspectives on topics relevant to development finance thereby pushing the boundaries of knowledge and contributing to a deeper understanding of the intricate dynamics shaping our economic landscape. The journal seeks high-quality papers that explore the impact of macroeconomic policies such as the removal of fuel subsidies, exchange rate unification, electricity tariff increases, and tax reforms on key sectors of the economy, particularly MSMEs. Other relevant thematic areas of this call include youth and skills, climate and sustainability, infrastructure, gender, MSMEs, and the digital economy, as these are critical areas relevant to the development of the Nigerian economy.

Structure of Manuscripts: 

Articles submitted for publication should include an abstract, keywords, an introduction, methodology, results, discussion, and reference sections respectively. The formatting of all articles selected for publication must conform to the following guidelines:

  1. All articles will undergo the peer review process by generally accepted standards.
  2. Each article should include an abstract not exceeding 200 words and must include a motivation for the study, data and methodology, research findings, policy implications and recommendations, and at least 4 Keywords of JEL Classification codes.
  3. The article’s title must be brief and contain words useful for indexing. The title page must contain the title of the article and the full name and affiliation of all authors. The address for correspondence (along with e-mail address and phone number) should be given.
  4. The author’s institutional affiliation and necessary background information on the article should appear at the foot of the first page.
  5. The article should not be more than twenty-five (25) pages and should be in MS Word 2010 or higher version, typed with a 1.5 line spacing option, with a margin of 1.5 inches on the top, bottom and sides respectively, typeface: Century Gothic, and font size: 12.
  6. The manuscript must be accompanied by an email testifying that its contents are original and unpublished or under consideration elsewhere for publication. Also, the manuscript must pass the standard originality test.
  7. Normally, the review process is expected to take not more than two months. There is neither a submission charge nor a page fee.
  8. Articles may be rejected, accepted or returned for specified revisions. A paper is expected to be published approximately six months from the date of acceptance.
  9. All submitted manuscripts are referred to an Editorial Board comprising an in-house editorial committee and external referees for peer-review of the paper.
  10. All comments by the referees will be sent to the author(s), including a decision of the Editorial Board to publish or not to publish the paper.
  11. The manuscript should have editable tables, figures, equations (using an equation editor), and charts. The author (s) should use Microsoft Word to format tables, and each table, figure, or chart should be numbered sequentially. In addition, all symbols and abbreviations used in the table or figure should be defined below it, under notes. Tables for econometrics results should contain only the coefficients, standard errors in parenthesis, and probability values in curly braces. Explain the table or figure and ensure they are correctly labelled with the source(s) clearly stated.
  12. Footnotes and/or endnotes are NOT allowed in the BOI Journal of Development Finance.
  13. The manuscript should be written in British English. Ensure that manuscripts are “spell checked” and “grammar checked” before submission.
  14. All references in your manuscript must be in APA 7th Edition format. All cited articles must be referenced and all referenced articles must be cited. You are advised to cite current articles published within the last 5 years, particularly for empirical literature, except when the reference is considered a classic. The use of DOI is highly encouraged.
  15. Authors should obtain permission from other sources, including the Internet for the use of copyrighted materials.

General Instructions:

  1. A soft copy of the Manuscripts must be sent to the Editor-in-Chief, BOI Journal of Development Finance (BOI-JDF), the Chief Economist and Head Strategy and Research Division, Bank of Industry Limited, BOI House, No 23 Marina, Lagos Island, Lagos Nigeria (e-mail: BOIJDF@boi.ng).
  2. The Bank of Industry Limited will reserve the copyright of the article once it is accepted for publication in the journal.

iii. Articles accepted for publication must have been recommended by at least 2 reviewers and the Editorial Board of BOI Journal of Development Finance (BOI-JDF). Each accepted article will attract a grant/remuneration of one hundred thousand naira only (N100,000.00) and a hard copy of the journal.
